Abdulla Riyaz, Kinbidhoo constituency MP has stated that the Omadhoo power station is in such an appalling state that a dangerous accident can happen any time there.
MP Abdulla Riyaz made this remark speaking at the meeting held between the Parliamentary Group members of the Jumhooree Party and the Minister of Finance Abdulla Jihad.
He said that the wiring is old and poor and an accident is an imminent danger at the power station.
“The other problem is the power station is located in the middle of the island. According to Fenaka a good power station that will cover the island can be established for 1.5 million Ruffiya. Therefore, it is very important that this is included in the budget,” he said.
Abdulla Riyaz also said that the students are unable to concentrate on their studies at school because the power station is right beside the school.
In addition to this, he said that there is a shortage in clean water in the island.
Abdulla Riyaz also informed the minister of all the concerns faced by the islands of his constituency.
