Human resource development was the greatest asset during expansion of the Maldives Police Service’s operations – CP

The Commissioner of Police, Hussain Waheed has spoken at the official ceremony to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the separation of the Police and the Army and the formation of the Police as a separate uniformed body.

The ceremony was held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Iskandar Building at 1000 hours on the 1st of September.

The Commissioner spoke at the ceremony, stating that since the separation of the Police and the armed forces 10 years ago, human resource development has been the Maldives Police Service’s greatest asset in developing and broadening their operations and operational capability.

The Commissioner went on to say that the MPS began with only 463 Officers but has since broadened their organization exponentially to about 3000 or so Officers.

He added that the Police Officers who are in the organization now are all well-trained, patient, disciplined and ready to sacrifice whatever was necessary for the safety and peace of this country.

The Commissioner also stated that in the past ten years, the Maldives Police Service and its Officers and other employees have been tackling various crimes and issues such as domestic issues, theft, assault, drugs, environmental issues, traffic issues, mugging, accidents at sea and on land, among others.

He stated that all such issues are seen as serious issues by the MPS and that Officers were and are being trained to handle such situations to the satisfaction of the public, adding that there would not be any members of the MPS that is not trained in a course of management or leadership, etc.

The Commissioner then stated that the Officers in the MPS today have been trained from different parts of the world and are capable of handling numerous situations.

The Commissioner concluded saying that the Maldives Police Service has become an organization capable of training and developing its members in various ways to make them more capable.
