Jumhooree Party’s Parliamentary Group has held a discussion with the Finance Minister Abdulla Jihad regarding the developments of the constituencies represented by the Jumhooree Party members.
Maamigili MP and Jumhooree Party leader, Gasim Ibrahim also participated in the meeting. Members of the Parliamentary Group raised their worries and also discussed regarding the ongoing development projects and projects which are on hiatus due to budget shortages.
The members noted that some projects were commenced two years back and are on pause after laying the foundation. And they also stated that many projects budgeted have still not been commenced.
The members stated that they understand the shortage in the budget. They requested to resolve the problems faced by the islands represented by Jumhooree Party members even with those difficulties as the government resolves the issues of the islands.
The Jumhooree Party Parliamentary Group also requested the Finance Minister to discuss the budget for next year with the members before allocating it.
Following the meeting a press conference was held. Speaking to the media, Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Group and Kinbidhoo constituency MP, Abdulla Riyaz said that there are many projects under PSIP which are stalled and this includes health and education related projects.
In addition to this, issues related to clean water shortage and sanitation issues were also raised during the discussion.
