Saudi Government has stated that they will seek to secure housing or maldivians and thereby secure a livelihood for the citizens.
Saudi Fund for Development said that they had provided the US$ 80 million grant aid as the Maldivian Government had started an ambitious plan to provide housing for Hulhumale’s 160,000 citizens. The fund noted that the plan involved amassing people from islands with low population, migration and panned settlements.
With the US$ 80 million grant given yesterday, the total of Saudi investments from the fund now amounts to US$ 271.
The fund added that they were continuously providing assistance due to the existing history and Saudi interest in the development of Maldives. Saudi Arabia stated that the continued investments will impact the bilateral relations between the two states positively.
After signing the agreement, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Fund, Yoosuf Al Bassam assured that Saudi assistance of this nature will be continue to be given.
