Saudi Government to grant US$ 100 million to develop INIA
Fisheries and Agriculture Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee has stated that the Saudi Government is to issue a US$ 100 million grant to develop Ibrahim Nasir International Airport.

He made the statement this morning after signing the US$ 80 million grant given to develop second phase of Hulhumale’.

Dr. Shainee stated that the research and other aspects of the Ihavan project in Ihavandhippolhu were underway and that Saudi assistance was vital for the project.

The Saudi assistance had substantially increased under President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom’s tenure. As such, Saudi King had initiated a project to build 10 mosques in the country, which is funded from his personal fund. Additionally, the Saudi’s had investment in developing more mosques.

The most significant aspect is the increase in the quota available for Hajj from 1,500 to 2,000.
