Finance Minister Abdulla Jihad has said that the current budget will not be enough to manage the government expenses for the remaining of this year and the budget requires additional MVR 1 billion even by selling T-Bills.
Minister Jihad made this remark in the Jumhooree Party’s Parliamentary Group’s meeting with him held yesterday.
He said that the state budget now has MVR 3.8 billion and MVR 2.4 billion from them will be for the salaries alone and the remaining MVR 1.4 billion will not be enough to cover all the other expenses.
“It is simply not enough. If the projects are to be continued then the budget should be increased. I will be submitting an additional supplement to the Peoples’ Majlis.”
“The state will not generate additional income this year. No islands passed to be leased to generate income for the budget have yet been leased,” he said.
