Acting Health Minister, Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim has stated that nurses will be given the same attention as doctors in Maldives.
Minister Nazim made this remark speaking at the meeting held at Nasandhura Palace to review and compile health services master plan.
He said that the government has noted that the nurses have been overlooked in recent times and this will be changed.
The Minister said that nurses training programs should be and would be held similar to the training programs held for doctors.
He said that this is very important as nurses are responsible for treating patients, educating patients about medical-related topics and performing basic medical tests and procedure.
Minister Nazim noted that Health and Medicine are changing every day, new techniques and new approaches are available on an almost daily basis.
He noted that continuous training is imperative if nursing care is to remain relevant.
