Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor has said that if the citizens desired to see peace, prosperity and economic development in the nation then they should elect President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom for a second term.
He made the statement speaking in the forum held to train campaign managers’ tor 2018 elections.
Vice President Adeeb said that the nation required a leader who was capable of meeting the challenges of the role, unwavering in his mission and unflinching towards any influence, global or local. He also said that the leader has to be one who was well versed in economic issues in order to resolve the most pressing issues facing the nation.
Vice President Adeeb said that President Yameen possesses all these characteristics and that he had shown these characteristics in his current tenure
He noted that it was extremely easy to find international fame by pursuing causes that had a global view, such as environmental issues. However, Adeeb said that if those talks are not backed by action, then there was no meaning or purpose to that cause.
He said that the present government was working to fulfill their pledges by draining water from the roads and developing islands as safe islands. Vice President Adeeb pledged that the Government will create more islands as safe islands.
Vice President Adeeb said that in a multiparty elections, anyone can contest the seats. Therefore, they had started the campaign, with a strong focus. He added that there were many who wished to see President Yameen elected for a second term and were willing to back and spend on the campaign. He assured that the President will not forget those who had assisted in the campaigns.
