Housing Ministry has signed an agreement with Amin Construction to build a 20 story multipurpose building.
The agreement was signed Tuesday and was signed by Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizz and Amin Construction Managing Director Abdullah Ahmed.
The building is located on the number 363 plot. First two stories of the building are to be developed as business outlets, with underground parking facilities and a park. The building will have 90 flats, out of which 20 percent will be owned by the Government. The project is fully funded by Amin Construction.
This is the second attempt by Amin Construction to build the tallest structure in the country, with the first being Velaanaage. MD Abdullah Mohamed stated that in-depth research needed to be carried out prior to commencing the project and will consult foreign experts on the issue. He added that once the research was carried out then the prices of the flats can be determined. He also added that the flats will go on sale only after that.
Dr. Muizz stated that the project is to be concluded in three years and that the Government owned flats will be sold for MVR 1.6 million.
