President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has revealed that he will be commencing discussions with the leader of the Jumhooree Party, Gasim Ibrahim within next week.
President Yameen made this remark meeting the local media at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport prior to the departure of Former President, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom to Samoa to attend the 3rd International Conference on Small Island Developing States.
The President said that although the relationship between Jumhooree Party leader and Maamigili MP Gasim Ibrahim was politically tainted recently, it is still intact.
President Yameen said that a coalition government will run with all partners being sincere. He said that the Jumhooree Party has been very supportive of the Special Economic Zone Bill submitted by the government. He said that the government wants to do everything by holding mutual discussions.
“I believe that we can work with Gasim. Now and then problems occur however we never go apart. We can still continue,” the President said.
During the press conference, former President Gayoom said that PPM will commence discussions with Jumhooree Party after his arrival to Maldives following his visit to Samoa.
