3R forum concluded successfully
Sixth Regional 3R forum for Asia and the Pacific concluded was concluded successfully.

Japan was the founder of the Forum and noted that this year around 500 participated in the Forum and that this was a huge success for the Forum. Japanse Ambassador thanked the Maldivian government for the excellent hospitality and the arrangements of the Forum.

He added that with this Forum, the importance of 3R for Maldives and other nations had been clearly demonstrated. He also noted that it was extremely remarkable that the private tourism sector had signed the 3R declaration as the pre-event to the fair.

The Japanese Ambassador said that Japan will be presiding the next year’s G7 summit and will be submitting 3R issues for deliberation. He thanked Vice President Ahmed Adeeb and Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim for the excellent arrangements of the Forum.

In this forum, 08 major plenary sessions and 05 major thematic sessions and country breakout sessions were held. This include sessions on Construction and Demolition Waste and Special Session of
SIDS – How 3R and Resource Efficiency can contribute towards the objectives and aspiration underlined in the SIDS Accelerated Modalities of Action (S.A.M.O.A) Pathway.
