Reputation of Villa College internationally in South Asia and Europe will elevate- Dr. Dohem



Villa College Colombo held the launch of the undergraduate programmes to be offered from September 2014 at its new campus on 25th August 2013 at Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo.
The function was graced by the Deputy Head of Mission of Germany for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Dr. Micheal Dohem.

During the function the two undergraduate degree programmes Bachelor of International Business Intercultural Studies and Bachelor of Tourism Management offered in partnership with Heilbronn University, Germany were introduced to the delegates. In addition, the Senior Management of Villa College Colombo was introduced to the audience.

While speaking at the function, the Rector and the President of Villa College, Dr. Ahmed Anwar highlighted that in its endeavor to become one of the leading University in the region, internationalization of higher education offered through Villa College has now officially commenced. Dr Anwar stated that Heilbronn University is the ideal partner to start its international operations as Germany has produced one of the largest numbers of noble prize winners and is the founder of modern higher education thereby guaranteeing the quality Villa College would like to ensure in its programmes. He highlighted that the three pillars of Villa College operations: quality, affordability and accessibility combined with a rich learning experience provided through direct industry engagement are the means through which Villa College seeks to advance its level internationally, The Deputy Head of mission highlighted that this historic collaboration marks a new form of trilateral partnership between Germany, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. At the same time Villa College's partnership with Heilbronn University provides opportunities for broader exchanges of students between nations and would elevate the reputation of Villa College and the Maldives internationally in a South Asia and Europe.
On behalf of Heilbronn University the Chancellor, Dr. Lars Kulke and Head of Tourism programme, Prof. Dr. Christian Buer participated in the official inauguration of these programmes.

The attendees of the function includes several key delegates from Sri Lanka and overseas including the Vice Chancellor of University of Colombo, Economic Counsel of the Embassy of the United States of America, Deans of several public and private institutions and students who have already applied for Villa College Colombo.

The Chief Executive Officer of Villa College Colombo, Dr. Mohamed Munavvar concluded the function by highlighting the mission of Villa College Colombo and significant role it will play in the internationalization of higher education in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
The programmes launched last night are well received among students who has already commenced submission of application to enroll in these programmes. A total of four programmes will be offered in Villa College Colombo in 2014 September semester. The application closes on 19th September.
