Hassan Said has won the first Gold medal for the nation by winning the 100 meter run in the Indian Ocean Island Games.
Said won the race by completing the run in 10.51 seconds. Runners from Madagascar claimed second and third in the race.
This is the first international win for Said and the first medal for Maldives in the Games. Said stated that this was a win for the whole nation.
Said entered the finals by the finishing the heat in 10.86 seconds.
