Former President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has stated that economic and internal stability were vital for maintaining independence.
In a series of tweets posted, Dr. Waheed called on all to reflect on the loss of independence of nations such as Syria, Iraq and Lybia, in light of the auspicious occasion of our independence. He had extended the felicitations of the day to all Maldivians.
Dr. Waheed served as Vice President from 11th November 2008 to 7th February 2012 and as President from 7th February 2012 to 17th November 2013.
