General Committee of the Parliament has amended the Parliament regulations to expedite approval votes for Vice Presidential nominees.
The Committee had scheduled amending some aspects of Parliament proceedings in addition to the approval votes for Vice President.
Prior to the amendment, the motion would be put to the Parliament, then forwarded to the appropriate committee of the Parliament for deliberation. The Committee would file a report to the Parliament, which will be tabled for a Parliament session to be held three days later.
After the amendment, the motion would be sent to the Parliament then debated for one hour, upon submission to the Parliament. The Committee also passed to vote on the motion, the same day as the submission of Committee report on the motion.
The amendment needs to be passed by the Parliament.
Members of the ruling PPM coalition has been working hard to ensure that present Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel is impeached and replaced by Tourism Minister Ahmed Adeeb.
