Six mosques to be built with private funds
Islamic Ministry’s State Minister Ali Waheed has stated that out of the 17 mosques that are to be built this year, six will be built with the generosity of private parties.

Speaking in a press conference in the Ministry, Ali Waheed stated that government funded nine mosques are under construction and that an additional nine were built by Saudi assistance. He added that the Government funded Dhaarul Imaan building is presently under construction and will be opened by 2016.

He added that Saudi King Salman had pledged to build 10 mosques in Maldives on his trip to Maldives last year. The Ministry reported that these are on tender and that construction would begin October.
