Bilehdhoo constituency MP, Ahmed Mubeen has appealed the members of the Peoples’ Majlis not to deceive the public while speaking at the Majlis.
Mubeen said that some of the members they contradict their speeches on some bills by voting against what they advocated for during the debate opened for those bills.
“We see that many speak positively during the debates in Majlis floor. However when the time for voting comes or when the time to make a decision comes in the committee phase, they contradict what they spoke of in the floor,” he said.
Mubeen said that it is high time for the members to stop showing off to the public and be sincere to them instead. He said that it is time to end hypocrisy and work to produce results that will aid the people and the nation.
“We are here to serve the people by making the necessary laws. And when making these laws we should never deceive the public. It is something that we should never do. We should not be hypocrites who speak something and do something else,” he said.
