Former Islamic Minister Dr. Abdul Majeed Abdul Baaree has stated that the most vital aspect for the State was to ensure that a just rule was established in the country.
Dr. Baaree stated that in Islamic Shariah, presenting evidence and proving a case was the responsibility of the State instead of the respondent of the case. He cited the example espoused by Caliph Umar in his tenure as ruler as clear examples of such just principles. He noted that this was not the case in present times.
He made the statement speaking on the Criminal Court proceedings of the hearing of former Defense Minister Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim.
He said that solutions for the issue must be sought out. He also noted that it was vital that Courts were exempt from political influence and that the Judges were of moral conduct and highly educated.
Dr. Baaree stressed that it was vital that judicial justice system has to be strengthened. He added that he hoped that a solution for the issue would be found through the inter-party talks between the Government and MDP. Dr. Baaree noted that if a viable solution was found for the issue, then many issues facing the nation would be resolved.
