The Government has said that peace of the nation has to be prioritized in spite of who or which party is governing the nation.
Speaking to the press Monday night after the discussions between the Government and MDP, Home Minister Umar Naseer said that we have allowed political dissent to filter into our interpersonal relationships. Minister Umar said that the Government was working to rescue the nation from such a fate.
He added that political discord of the past few years had yielded nothing but political infighting. This had not yielded any benefits for either PPM or MDP.
Minister Umar added that the Government will exercise maximize leniency and stated that it was vital that both parties exercise prudence in the negotiations.
Even though, the negotiations are being carried out by representatives, the final decision would be reached by President Abdullah Yameen on behalf of the Government while MDP President Mohamed Nasheed will finalized a decision on behalf of the Party.
