Tourism Minister and President’s Office’s Economic Committee’s Co-Chair, Ahmed Adeeb has stated that Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed fled the country as there were many things he was hiding.
This statement was posted on Minister Adeeb’s personal twitter account.
His tweet stated that those elected into public office were elected to serve the nation, instead of living a life of luxury abroad.
Adeeb’s statement comes at the time Vice President Jameel is presently in United Kingdom. Additionally, a no confidence motion has been filed in the Parliament against Dr. Jameel.
The no confidence vote was submitted to the Parliament with the signatures of 61 MPs out of the 85 MPs of the Parliament. Parliament law dictates that 57 MPs have to vote on the motion to pass it.
Therefore, it is expected that this motion would be easily passed in the Parliament.
