Bilehdhoo constituency MP, Ahmed Mubeen has said that the salaries and allowances of the teachers should be revised.
Mubeen said that an amendment to the teachers salary framework have been submitted to the government and the government should expedite their work now.
“We have submitted this work to this government too. We have amended the framework and sent it to the President’s Office. However up until today we have not got anything positive on the amendment from the government,” he said.
Mubeen underscored the importance of expediting the work as there are many inequalities in the salaries of teachers and salaries of other staffs.
“A degree holder who is a teacher gets a low pay while a diploma holder in the health services get a pay much better than that. This is a matter of concern,” he said.
Mubeen said that the civil service will also will be amended in the Peoples’ Majlis soon.
“Maldivian civil servants are many in number. We are talking of many people. We are talking of the people whose service is the reason for the continuation of the state. We are here to provide them justice, equality and honour,” he said.
