Many people with special needs are in despair- Anara Naeem
Makunudhoo constituency MP, Anara Naeem has said that many of the people with special needs are in despair regarding the government’s actions towards the Bill on Amendment to the Disabilities Act.

Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Anara Naeem said that the people have lost hope of increasing the allowance to people with special needs next year because of the negative comments of the Finance Minister.

She said that many have called her and raised their concern regarding the matter. She said that there are about only 5100 people registered as people with special needs. And only 1000 of them are people with serious disabilities.

Anara said that if the government is unable to increase the allowance of all it was discussed in the committee to categorize the 5100 people into three categories and to give MVR 5000 as allowance to the 1000 people with serious disabilities and give the other two categories an allowance lower than that.

Meanwhile, the finance minister said that there is no budget to allocate such allowances and the state is still in debt.
