President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the Hulhumale’-Male’ bridge project will hopefully get the aid of China.
President Yameen made this remark speaking to the press at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport following his official visit to China to participate in the official ceremony of the second Youth Olympics held in China.
The President said that the government discussed with the Chinese counterparts about seven projects but the most priority was given to Hulhumale’-Male’ bridge alone.
President Yameen said that a joint committee between China and Maldives has been formed to collaborate Chinese cooperation to the other projects as per the initiative of the Chinese President. He said that the names of the Maldivians representing this committee have now been shared with the Chinese government.
The President noted that everything went very organized and systematically with the assistance of the Chinese Ambassador in Maldives.
In addition to this President Yameen said that this is a very hopeful visit for the development and progress of the Maldivian nation.
He said that the Chinese initiative in the development projects will make it easier to get the support of the Axim Bank to carry on these projects.
