The nominations for the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has been forwarded to the Committee by the Parliament for additional deliberation, yesterday.
President Abdullah Yameen had chosen former Member of Parliament for Central Fuvahmulah Constituency ShifaqMufeed, AishathAfreen Mohamed and AiminathEenash as his nominees for the position.
Their applications has been forwarded to the Parliament Committee for Independent Institutions.
The announcement was made for prospective applicants as the term of three members will expire this year. As such, the terms of Commission PresidentMariyamAzraa, Vice President Ahmed Tholal and Member Jeehaan Mahmood will expire this year.
President’s Office reported that a total of 33 applicants had submitted their applications.
