Meedhoo constituency MP Rozaina Adam has requested the Speaker of the Peoples’ Majlis to protect the rights of the minority members.
Speaking at the yesterday’s sitting of the Peoples’ Majlis, Rozaina said that the the speaker’s responsibility is not only to chair the meetings of the Majlis, but is responsible for maintaining order in the chamber impartially without being biased to any political affiliation or the majority.
Rozaina said that the Speaker should treat all members equally and should protect the rights of the minority members of the Majlis as well.
“I am very saddened by this. The Special Economic Zone Bill also did not go as you, the Speaker earlier informed us of,” she said.
