Islamic Ministry urges not to do anything that could compromise Islamic unity
Ministry of Islamic Affairs urges all citizens to refrain from actions that could compromise the Islamic unity, independence and sovereignty of the country.

In an unexpected statement issued today without revealing what led to this call for unity, the ministry reminded all citizens that, actions that could compromise the Islamic unity, independence and sovereignty of the country are forbidden under the ‘Protection of Religious Unity among Maldivians Act’.

The statement also said that it has come to the ministry’s attention that rumors that facilitate religious and social rifts in the society are being spread.

Nevertheless the statement did not reveal what these rumors were.
