Former Managing Director of STO, Adam Azim has said the people will not hold protests when the government establishes justice.
Adam Azim made this remark speaking at last night’s rally of “Maldivians against tyranny” protests. He said that they are not holding street protests because they like gathering on streets like that. “However we are here on the street because there is no other way. The government is not establishing justice. So we are forced to hold these protests,” he said.
Adam Azim said that the people have only two demands and that is to establish justice and to not send Police to arrest people without any right.
“These not demands that the government cannot do. These are actually two obligations of the government. The people are on the streets because the government is not fulfilling these two obligations,” he said.
In addition to this Adam Azim said that investors are now not coming to Maldives not because there is no benefit in investing in Maldives but because of the risk of facing the same fate as Gasim Ibrahim. He said that investors now do not trust the government because of how they are treating Gasim Ibrahim.
He also said that the government is sacking people from government jobs because of using their right to the freedom of assembly to hold protests against the government.
