Home Minister, Umar Naseer has said that the ministry will do everything possible to protect journalists.
Minister Umar Naseer made this remark in view of the case of Minivan News reporter Ahmed Ridwan who has been reported missing since 7th of this month.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Home Minister Umar Naseer said that Maldives Police Services are already conducting a search and regards it as a serious case.
“Maldives Police Service has been ordered to do everything possible to find Ridwan. We will do everything we can to protect journalists,” he said.
Minister said that up until now the Police has not received any information regarding Ridwan since he went missing.
According to Minivan News, Rilwan’s last known whereabouts were on the Hulhumalé ferry at around 1:30am on Friday, August 8. A witness has confirmed that, upon arrival, Rilwan did not travel with him on the bus into town.
