Saddening that electricity was disrupted while there were patients in ICU- Dr. Shakeela
Former Minister of Health Dr. Mariyam Shakeela has said that it is saddening and inhuman to cut off the electricity of IMDC Hospital in Addu City Hithadhoo while there were patients being treated in ICU.

Dr. Shakeela who is among the shareholders of the hospital said that the hospital participated in the protest against the abrupt changes to tariff rates, which hiked the electricity bills.

She said that the hospital did not participate in the protest to cause any trouble to the government.

Dr. Shakeela said that one of the biggest reasons for their participation is that the government has yet not replied to the letter sent by traders of Addu City.

She said that it was a very inhumane decision to cut off electricity without any prior notice from a hospital.

While electricity services were disrupted for IMDC, the SIMDI Showroom in Addu City had their electricity services disrupted on Wednesday.

The hospital has now regained the electricity by using a generator.

IMDC is one of the largest private hospitals in Addu City, owned and managed by SIMDI group.

According to reports, SIMDI has stated that they were working to file the case in Civil Court and gain a stay order to reinstate power.

Power supply was cut to SIMDI properties in Addu after Dr. Shakeela was seen actively participating in the May Day rally held against the Government.
