Sheikh Ilyas Hussein has said that Islamic scholars will never accept any form of oppression specially when it comes from tyrant rulers.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Adhaalath Party office, Sheikh Ilyas said that the Prophet even accepted polytheists if they were to stand up against oppression. He said that the Islamic scholars of Maldives are upon that same methodology.
He said that it is a religious obligation upon all Muslims to stand up against oppression of all forms according to their abilities. He said that all people should collectively work against the oppression of the tyrannical government of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Sheikh Ilyas stressed the fact that all forms of oppression are condemned in Islam.
