Deputy Leader of the Jumhooree Party, Ameen Ibrahim has requested Maldives Police Service to maintain the security of the artificial beach area while the “Maldivians against tyranny” movement holds the Mayday activities on Friday.
Ameen made this remark at the meeting held with the Police at their request on Thursday.
He said that on February 7 some people planted sharp objects on the area where the demonstration was held to accuse them of trying to cause violence.
Ameen said that the Friday’s demonstration will be much bigger than the February 7 demonstration therefore there will be a people who will try to disrupt the demonstration by plotting against it.
“Therefore I request the Police to maintain the security from now on and obstruct all who try to do such a thing,” he said.
Ameen urged the Police to remain steadfast in defence of the people. He said that the Police does not have to confront the people because of a corrupt minister and a tyrant President.
