Majority does not mean they can change the laws- Gasim
Jumhooree Party leader and Maamigili MP, Gasim Ibrahim has said that the majority in the Peoples’ Majlis does not mean that they can change and challenge laws.

Gasim Ibrahim made this remark speaking at the Peoples’ Majlis’s sitting held yesterday.

“We are here in this place for the rights of the people and as per the promise made. The stability and peace of the Maldives should be a concern for all. Everyone should take the responsibility with firmness. What I am saying is the Majority members cannot decide for all,” he said.

“Now what they are doing is compromising the state and opening rooms for corruption. They are disregarding all outside comments except their party members,” he said.

Gasim recently said that no chance will be given to a committee formed by the President to sell the nation in the guise of economic zone.

In a previous meeting of the committee, Gasim said that the economic zones of Maldives should be developed in a way that the people gets the benefits equally.

Gasim said that Male’ Atoll and Ari Atoll has so many resorts developed in them that much of the income of the state comes from those two atolls.

He added that if an economic zone is to be developed in those atolls then there is nothing but the sea for it in those two atolls.
