Faisal urges not to increase duties on vehicles taken to islands
Kashidhoo constituency MP Faisal Naseem has urged the government not to increase the duties on vehicles taken to islands so as to decrease the over crowdedness of Male’.

Speaking at yesterday’s sitting of the Peoples’ Majlis, Faisal said that everything that gives relief to the people should be accepted.

“What I want to note is the same thing that we talked and discussed in the budget committee. During that time it was said that the duties on four wheeled vehicles were raised to bring a solution to the over crowdedness of Male’. As a control. However, Finance Ministry even said that which is imported to the islands will be different. My question is where will the duties on those items be decreased?,” he asked.

He said that there are islands with very few vehicles and are in need of more vehicles. Faisal said that vehicles cannot be controlled by increasing the duties.

Commenting on the claim by a minister that the government is unable to serve the people because of the lack of cooperation by the opposition, Faisal said that he has been cooperating with whatever that is of benefit to the people.
