Secretary General of the Jumhooree Party, Ahmed Sameer has called the government for transparency and full disclosure.
MP Ahmed Sameer made this remark in view of the decision of the ruling party, Peoples’ Progressive Party (PPM) to reject Dr. Mariyam Shakeela for Minister of Health.
Sameer said that the President appointing and removing a minister as the President has the authority to do so.
“This is done by deceiving the public and the Minister as well. It does not work like this. PPM did it because the President wanted it,” he said.
Sameer said that the Maldives has witnessed removal of ministers, punishing them and putting them under arrest. He said that this is done in other countries as well however this is done more transparently.
He said that he believes that this is a mockery and revilement of Dr. Shakeela. He said that the people will think deeply over the matter.
Meanwhile, the People’s Majlis rejected the President’s nomination for the post of Health Minister Dr. Mariyam Shakeela of G. Manaam, submitted to the People’s Majlis for endorsement by the President pursuant to Article 129 (a) and (d) of the Constitution.
