MIRA doesn’t want to even check whether we have any outstanding payments- Villa Group
Villa Group has stated that the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has stated that they do not want to recheck whether the demand of the Tourism Ministry for 100 million US dollars from Villa Group is valid or not.

In a press conference held yesterday, the executive director of the company, Shimad said that a letter was sent to MIRA requesting them to recheck whether the company really has any outstanding payments. He said that MIRA stated that they are demanding money that the ministry have ordered them to demand.

Shimad said that the interests of a bank loan will reach only 18 percent maximum per year however the fine demanded by the tourism ministry reaches 187 percent per year. He said that Villa Group has no outstanding payments to be made to the Tourism Ministry or Mira.

He said that no company will remain without paying any outstanding payments to the Tourism Ministry.

Company Secretary Ibrahim Rasheed said that the Chairman of the Villa Group, Gasim Ibrahim gives highest priority to settle all payments. Therefore there is a special department in Villa Group specifically for it.
