Attorney of Villa Group Ahmed Shafeeq has said that legally the company does not have to pay any fines to the government.
Speaking to the press, Ahmed Shafeeq said that there is no outstanding lease payment or outstanding fines according the agreements made between the company and the Tourism ministry.
He said that the lease payments and the fines that the government is demanding are all made up and has no legal status.
Shafeeq added that it is a grave concern if the government tries to demand money from companies without any due right and through deception. He said that this is a very bad message given to the investors.
He said that the agreements made with the Villa Group is just like any other agreement. “There is no difference between the agreements made with Villa and other companies. Only the difference will be the names and amounts. The articles remains the same. Agreements can only be terminated if the lease is not paid. Or it is terminated when the articles are breached. Villa group has not done any of these,” he said.
Shafeeq said that if the company had violated any of the agreed articles or had any outstanding payments then the company first should be informed. He said that up until now Villa group has not received any such notices.
