Many people are saying that it is now clear that the current government will even fine unborn children and take action against them.
The reason for their saying is that the government is fining 100 million US dollars from Villa Group.
The fine includes the lease payments of islands that were agreed to be commenced paying from 2016.
Villa Company states that the lease payments have to paid from 2016 if even the first agreements are referred without referring to the second agreements. This raises the question as to how the company was fined for a payment that they have not yet even commenced to pay as per the agreement.
MIRA is only following the orders of Tourism Ahmed Adheeb to take a fine from these leased islands while the lease payments have not been commenced.
In Maldives fines include divorcing and not informing the authorities and not submitting “mid wife form” to the health ministry after a child is born. These are every day fine issues happening in Maldives.
Now the question that comes is of the possibility that the government might fine a person claiming he divorced his wife and did not pay the fine while he has not even divorced his wife! And also it could be the same with the “mid-wife” form of a child never yet born!
Would the government then freeze the accounts of the person? Would the government even annul his marriage?
According to Gasim Ibrahim his company will not have to pay 100 million US dollars let alone one dollar. He is saying that Adheeb’s claims are politically motivated.
Gasim requested Mira to recheck the agreements. The case is now in the court. There is hope for justice.
