Gasim Ibrahim, the leader of the Jumhooree Party has said that if there was any justice then he will not have to pay the $100 million that Tourism Minister Ahmed Adheeb has been demanding from him.
Gasim Ibrahim made this remark during his interview to VTV regarding the comments made by Tourism Minister Ahmed Adheeb.
He said that there are discrepancies regarding the validity of the $100 million claim that Adheeb has been making. He said that this claim is politically motivated and has no basis.
Gasim reiterated that he is fined with $ 100 million unjustly to cripple his businesses and to destroy him.
“If the tourism minister even rechecks the agreements with MIRA he will certainly know,” he said.
Noting on the various fields of payments, he speculated on what reason there would be for the state to abruptly call for the payment of a value as high as $100 million.
He noted that the the Tourism Minister Adheeb said in an interview on Sun Online that he wanted to claim all the leased islands to himself. He said that Adheeb made this remark without thinking it through.
Gasim said that he is always ready to talk the issue out with Adheeb, or with any relevant parties, through peaceful and dignified discussions.
He stressed that if justice is to be served the case would conclude in favor of him.
