Former Defence Minister Colonel (retired) Mohamed Nazim’s family has stated that the Department of Corrections is scheduled to hand over him today morning at the airport for him to leave to Singapore for medical treatment.
The family stated that Colonel Nazim is not allowed to go home to get ready for the flight but will be taken directly from jail to the airport.
Since medical treatment and accommodation will be expensive in Singapore the family tried if it was possible to take him to another country however the government did not give the permit except to go to Singapore.
“If it was Malaysia then it could have been cheaper. Some family members live in Malaysia. However the Correctional Services stated that the Home Ministry gave permit only to go to Singapore. Therefore this is also a small loss. Another oppression. The Home Minister will clearly know this,” he said.
Family stated that they requested for the expenses of the treatment if they are allowing only to goto a certain country.
“However they denied the expenses. And said that he should be taken to Singapore and the decision cannot be changed,” the family stated.
