Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Group of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Hulhudhoo constituency MP Rozaina Adam has said that a final decision on the issue of endorsing Dr. Mariyam Shakeela as the Health Minister will be decided in the last minute.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Rozaina said that MDP has not decided on the matter yet however a meeting will be held at 12:00 hrs today afternoon to make a decision.
The ruling party and also the majority party in the Peoples’ Majlis, Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) members are in disagreement whether to give endorsement to Dr, Shakeela or not.
A meeting to make a final decision on the matter by PPM will be held today at 12:30. Last week it was passed by PPM to take a secret vote on the matter.
A similar vote was taken previously and the majority voted against endorsing Dr. Shakeela as the Health Minister.
In a press conference held yesterday, Dr. Shakeela said that she will not resign no matter how much pressure she has to cope.
