As part of government’s initiative to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency, an awareness workshop on renewable energy and energy efficiency has been held in Alifu Dhaalu atoll Mahibadhoo island on 8th August 2014.
This one-day workshop was organized by the Secretariat of the Alifu Dhaalu Atoll Council and Ministry of Environment and Energy.
A total of 49 members representing government organizations and NGOs from all the islands of Alifu Dhaalu Atoll participated in the workshop.
The workshop consisting of four sessions were conducted by the officials of Ministry of Environment and Energy. Information on renewable energy, renewable energy projects in Maldives, financing opportunities for renewable energy projects and energy efficiency and energy conservation were provided.
In addition, participants were engaged in activities which include developing a project proposal and calculating energy consumption.
