Addu City Mayor, Abdulla Sodhiq has called Fenaka Corporation to leave the Addu City powerhouse if they cannot give services at the current rate.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Mayor Sodhiq said that regardless of the different claims of the government, the people of Addu City were never given any subsidies.
He said that the Fenaka investment on the Addu City power house is only 10 percent. “Recently two generators were brought. Other than that they don’t have anything,” he said.
Sodhiq said that the electricity wiring to the houses and the whole network was granted by Japan and Australia.
He said that the people have been paying their bills and doing what is required from them. And there is no reason why they should be charged extra.
Sodhiq said that the changes brought to the rates were not even informed earlier. He said that such changes should be informed.
He said that if the people have been informed Addu City Council will find a people who will give electricity services at a cheaper rate if the new rates are not accepted the people.
