VMedia and Chinese official newspaper Xinhua has signed an agreement to jointly promote the agencies’ news services.
The agreement was signed at a special ceremony at VTV yesterday. Xinhua News Asia Pacific Regional Bureau’s Deputy Director Chan Yong signed the agreement on behalf of Xinhua and Executive Chairman of Island Broadcasting Company Ameen Ibrahim signed on behalf of VMedia and Miadhu Daily.
The two agencies also agreed to promote positive, accurate and objective news on ties between the two countries.
The news agency leaders discussed ways to promote new media forms. They said the signing of the bilateral agreement on television co-operation opened a new page in the relationship between VNA and Xinhua.
Xinhua News Asia Pacific Regional Bureau’s Deputy Director underscored the importance of reporting authentic news regarding the mutual cooperation between the countries and the aid granted by the Chinese government for the development of Maldives.
