Kinbidhoo constituency MP, Jumhooree Party’s Parliamentary Group’s Deputy Leader Abdulla Riyaz has said that if the ruling party loyalists are elected for independent commissions of the state then those commissions will not be independent.
Abdulla Riyaz said that the party affiliation of the candidates should not be a concern when elected members to these commissions. He said that only the academic background and capability and record of the candidates should the only concern.
He noted that many times candidates with no academic background are given more marks then those with academic qualifications.
“There are many with masters level qualifications. However, if only political party loyalists are selected for independent commissions then the opportunities are lost for the educated. This is a damage. This is a great damage done to the progress of the nation,” he said.
“Independent commissions should be free from politics. They should not be politicized. They should be run nationally. Not politically,” he said.
