Kanditheemu constituency MP, Mohamed Hussien has said that the state and the government are two separate entities and should be clearly distinguished in the constitution.
Kanditheemu constituency MP made this remark speaking at the sitting of the Peoples’ Majlis held yesterday. He said that the state will always remain but the governments will keep changing.
“This amendment states that everyplace it is mentioned “government” should be changed to “state”. In legal terms these two are separate entities. So all should think about this well. The state is permanent. The government will keep on changing,” he said.
In addition to this, MP Mohamed Hussein expressed concern regarding the rise of corruption in the Maldives.
“Corruption is rampant in the Maldivian society. Which step is taken it is corruption. Which every drum is beaten there is corruption,” he said.
Mohamed Hussein said that the laws should be scrutinized from all angles before bringing amendments to those laws.
