Gasim Ibrahim is arguably the most inspirational leader in our country. His understanding and warmth towards the people of Maldives is possibly what has made him the prolific and the modest figure Maldivians love.
He has so far set a perfect example in fighting for the rights of the people and the nation. This is evident from his actions regarding the constitutional breaches of the MDP government by giving the airport to GMR and other similar issues.
It was Gasim Ibrahim he first stood up against it and raised concern regarding it. It Gasim Ibrahim who informed the public regarding the dangers of giving the airport to a foreign party.
Despite him not being at the forefront of the street protests and demonstrations he participated in all major meetings held regarding the matter.
While representatives of other parties participated at Nasandhura Palace hotel regarding the issue of the airport, it was Gasim Ibrahim who participated on behalf of the Jumhooree Party.
The ongoing campaign to defend the constitution was also initiated in a similar way. Rather, Gasim Ibrahim also participated in street activities held under this campaign.
It is shameful to think that Gasim Ibrahim is now not participating in this campaign because he is not seen from all the street activities.
He was, is and always will be a person serving the Maldivian people. He is a model patriot in nation’s service. He has proved this to the people.
