Nazim requests public access to his trial

Former Defence Minister Colonel (retired) Mohamed Nazim has requested the Prosecutor General to arrange public access to the ongoing trial against in court for charges of terrorism.

A letter was sent to the Prosecutor General by Nazim’s legal team on his behalf. The letter stated that the trial against Nazim is connected to the welfare of many people and the mass gathering held on 27 February is a proof of it.

Therefore, the letter stated that Nazim requests the Prosecutor General to make arrangements for the public to attend his trial hearings.

The letter said that if the state cannot arrange public access than he is ready to cover the expenses of such a public trial.

In addition to this, Nazim stated that he does not believe that the current Prosecutor General is able to take his responsibilities as per the constitution.
