Deputy Leader of the Jumhooree Party, Ameen Ibrahim has said that Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has no legitimacy to remain as the President if PPM claims that Jumhooree Party’s members of the Peoples’ Majlis have no legitimacy to remain in the party.
Ameen Ibrahim said that the President claimed that PPM members gave their votes to Jumhooree Party members during the Majlis election and therefore with the termination of the coalition then those Jumhooree Party members should switch their parties to PPM.
He said that if that is the case then President Yameen should switch to Jumhooree Party as it was Jumhooree Party who supported him during the election and was the reason for his victory.
Ameen said that the Jumhooree Party contributed on the expenditure of appointing PPM members, but PPM - in turn - had not done the same.
