Thoddoo constituency MP Ibrahim Hassan (Evila) has said that it is a big concern that the opposition is so many in number.
MP Ibrahim Hassan made this remark in view of the thousands of people gathered in the mass gathering held yesterday by the opposition.
The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party, and its ally the Jumhooree Party, staged a mass demonstration in Male’, Maldives, on Friday afternoon, calling for the release of former President Mohamed Nasheed and other political prisoners.
Local media estimated the crowd at over 10,000 people. Males’ total population is 105,000.
Ibrahim Hassan said that the ruling PPM might think about trying to hold a bigger gathering. He said that it is not the correct line of thinking.
Ibrahim Hassan said that the government should stop trying to compete with the clear majority of the people of Maldives.
He said that the government should instead think about the demands of the people and try to meet them. He said that the government should resolve the problems faced by the people and alleviate their difficulties and sorrows.
