The mass gathering organized by Jumhooree Party and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is currently ongoing in capital Male’.
Thousands of people converged near Surf point and marched forward to the other end.
Gasim Ibrahim called the government to establish justice and restore the rights of the people.
The Jumhooree Party leader called the government to withdraw the charges against former Defence Minister Colonel (retired) Mohamed Nazim, Moosa Jaleel, Tholhath Ibrahim and former President Mohamed Nasheed.
Gasim Ibrahim said that there is no benefit to the nation in prosecuting them. He said that these charges should be withdrawn and the government should come to reconciliation with the opposition.
Gasim Ibrahim said that 80 percent of the people of Maldives do not accept the charges against Colonel Nazim and former President Nasheed as valid. He said that the international community also rejects the accusations against them.
In addition to this, Gasim Ibrahim called the government to prosecute all those who are involved in corruption and to establish justice. He said that the government should be transparent in their policies and actions.
